At Brisbane Urban Environmental Education Centre (BUEEC), the Teaching and Learning  Framework translates our vision and values into everyday practice. It provides high impact, consistent, evidence-based teaching and learning practices which are focussed on the connected student.

The BUEEC Teaching and Learning Framework is underpinned by the following educational research relevant to our context:

  • Visible Learning (Hattie, 2009/2012)
  • The New Art and Science of Teaching (Marzano, 2017)
  • Curiosity and Powerful Learning (Hopkins and Craig, 2015)
  • Curiouser and Curiouser (Munro, 2015)
  • Diverse Pedagogies of Place (Tooth and Renshaw, 2018)
  • Learning by Doing (Dewey, 1938)
  • 5th Pedagogy (Ballantyne and Packer, 2009)
  • Teaching Outside the Classroom (Smith and Fedesco, 2020)
  • Authentic learning: what, why and how? (ACEL e-Teaching, 2016)
  • Targeted teaching: How better use of data can improve student learning (Goss and Hunter, 2015)

This framework provides a clear and consistent way to collaboratively build the capacity of connected teachers to enable the improvement of learning experiences and outcomes for our connected students.
