Program Overview
Coastal Landforms and Landscapes is a whole day program investigating the formation of chosen landforms and the varying uses of that landscape.
Investigation into the issues related to human use of the area and discussion around the management of these issues is also addressed.
The program commences with the students identifying the processes contributing to the ever changing shape of the Queensland coastline and identifying evidence of this in their local area.
Students visit two sites within their local area to collate an accurate representation of the area.
Activities include:
- identification of the effects of erosion and deposition on the coastline.
- coastal landscapes field sketch
- coastal land use survey
- beach profile
- longshore drift experiment
- human impact survey
- group problem solving activity addressing issues resulting from human use and the success of coastal management being used in the area.
This program is able to be delivered at a Gold Coast or Sandgate site.
